We had some extra tissue paper from our Christmas gifts so we put it out on the table for the children to explore. The children immediately took some tissue and started to tear strips of it from the bigger sheets. Piles of tissue started to accumulate. One of the children was very concentrated on this activity and spent a lot time on it.
Tearing paper is great activity to develop small muscles in their hands. Tearing paper can lead to other skills such as opening things, zippers and eventually printing.
